SSA’s Close
Connections with Law Enforcement
|
Thailand has a
developing law enforcement system that is constantly
improving in terms of investigative training and use of more
advanced investigative tools and policing equipment. However
with limited numbers of police; ever-increasing commercial,
tourist, and residential areas expanding the police’s area
of responsibilities; and the increasing threats from crime
and terrorism, law enforcement agencies may be slow in
reacting to select calls.
Although Thailand’s law enforcement agencies are limited in
numbers – as in comparison to other Western tourist
locations, they are the only authorized agencies to use
force and/or detain suspected criminals. Thai legislation
makes it impossible for security guards or officers to use
reasonable force or to detain another person possibly
engaged in criminal activities.
SSA is sensitive to this security operating environment in
Thailand and SSA from the Managing Director level down to
its Western Security Managers have developed close working
relationships with the host nation police at the local and
national levels. Many of SSA’s Managers (as well as its MD)
serve as Volunteer Tourist Policemen. SSA also supports and
maintains close liaison with Thailand’s Immigration and
Labour Departments. Through these relationships, SSA is in a
position to assist our client’s and their employees and
guests with any security problems they may arise by ensuring
the appropriate law enforcement officers respond to a
client’s premises if the needs arises. |

|
An added
advantage of utilizing SSA is that when a need arises for
law enforcement assistance or inter-action, clients have the
opportunity to contact SSA first. SSA will ensure the
call-out for police is discreet (not going out on the police
band radio) thereby ensuring unwanted media are not made
aware of the incident and do not arrive on location perhaps
broadcasting un-welcomed incidents associated with the
client or its brand name. |
