SSA provide a wide range of services including guarding
services, boarding gate security controls, access controls
and aircraft security to various facilities operators at
Bangkok's airport, together with travel document
verification, screening of of air cargo, consultancy
services and various other aviation security activities.
Large numbers of people pass through airports. Such
gatherings present a target for terrorism and other forms of
crime due to the number of people located in a small area
and in large airliners.
The national security standard
has raised to a high level, followed by
developing new security standards in accordance with the
international standards to require further enhanced measures
for aviation security. Based on these enhanced security
standards, installation of advance screening equipment such
as new explosive detection systems have been introduced to
address more elaborate methods of hijacking and terrorist
acts.
Airport
operators hold important responsibilities for making
airports secure and aviation security policies effective.
They coordinate response to security threats, establish and
maintain restricted areas of the airport and their pass
systems and are responsible for physical security, including
perimeter security. Airports provide facilities for
pre-board screening and hold bag screening operations, and
arrange for armed police response to these checkpoints.
